A former police officer has been charged with the alleged assault of a man in Lake Illawarra, NSW Police say.
On Thursday 4 January 2018, the former officer, a 52-year-old man, was served with a future court attendance notice for the offence of common assault following investigations into the alleged assault while on duty in the Southern Region in June 2016.
He is due to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday 7 March 2018.
The alleged offence occurred whilst the officer was employed as a NSW police officer.
