Former volunteer coach charged over online child exploitation - Inner West

A man is due to appear in court today after being charged over alleged online child exploitation offences in Sydney's Inner West.

In May 2019, officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a male volunteer coach from an inner west rugby league club allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations and sent sexually explicit images to teenagers on a social network.

Following inquiries, on Thursday 16 May 2019, a 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with use carriage service to send indecent material.

Upon examination of a mobile phone that was seized during the arrest in May 2019, police yesterday (Tuesday 1 September 2019) charged the 25-year-old man with further offences including two counts of use carriage service to send indecent material and use carriage service to solicit child pornography.

He is due to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 2 October 2019).
