Fortek faces charges

EPA Victoria has laid charges against Fortek (Princes) Pty Ltd and its sole director, Rosario Pelligra, for allegedly disposing of industrial waste unlawfully.

Geelong Landfill Pty Ltd has also been charged with breaches of its EPA Operating Licence.

The industrial waste was contaminated timber from the decommissioning of a factory in North Geelong.

EPA alleges that the waste was disposed of at Geelong Landfill Pty Ltd, which was not authorized to receive industrial waste of that type.

The case was investigated by EPA's Environmental Crime Branch, and the charges will be heard at the Geelong Magistrates' Court on 23 January 2024.

As the matter is now before the Courts, EPA will not be able to comment further.
