Fortitude Valley Police receive special letter of thanks

After receiving the news that she will no longer be living on the streets, a local Fortitude Valley woman wanted to thank those she said had helped her along the way to turning her life around, Queensland Police say.

Sandy had called the streets of Fortitude Valley home for the past nine months, during which time she has come to know some of the local police officers.

In a letter delivered recently by Sandy to the Fortitude Valley Police Beat, she said "I would really like to thank all of you for the kindness, empathy, sincerity, concern and help that several of your officers showed/gave to me along the way."

Officer in Charge of Fortitude Valley Acting Senior Sergeant Peta Comadira said she was extremely proud to hear about the actions of officers.

"We don’t do our job for recognition or thanks. We do it because we care about our communities and want to work with them so that everyone can feel safe," Acting Senior Sergeant Comadira said.

"I couldn’t be more proud of the officers at the Fortitude Valley Police Beat for the compassion they have shown Sandy and for displaying true community spirit."

Sandy’s letter will take pride of place on the wall at the Fortitude Valley Police Beat to be a daily reminder to officers on how they can help lives.

Fortitude Valley Police along with the rest of the QPS family wish Sandy all the best for the new chapter of her life.
