Four arrested following taxi assault in Wollert

Police have arrested four teenagers following an assault on a taxi-driver in Wollert early this morning, Victoria Police say.

The four were arrested following the assault on Bridge Inn Road at 2.45am.

Police believe the four, two girls and two boys, caught a taxi to Bridge Inn Road and told the driver that a relative was coming to pay the fare.

As the four began to walk away the driver attempted to restrain one of the boys.

Police arrested the four teenagers, a 17-year-old Carlton girl, a 16-year-old Mill Park girl, a 15-year-old Coburg boy and a 13-year-old boy from Reservoir.

The four have been interviewed for a number of offences including affray, recklessly cause injury, taxi-fare evasion and assault.
