Four people have been arrested following a pursuit at Murray Bridge this morning, according to SA Police.
About 5.45am on Saturday 28 July police spotted a white Toyota Echo travelling with a purple Nissan Skyline on Portrush Road at Toorak Gardens which were suspected of being stolen.
Police patrols attempted to stop the cars as they travelled south over Greenhill Road however the pursuit was terminated due to safety reasons and both cars were lost sight of.
A few minutes later, a member of the public reported a purple car hitting her car on Portrush Road which failed to stop and was last seen heading towards the South Eastern Freeway. Her car sustained minor damage but thankfully, she was not injured.
About 6am the purple Nissan Skyline was spotted by patrols travelling east on the South Eastern Freeway approaching Mount Barker. Officers attempted to spike the car’s tyres but were not successful and the car continued east before taking the Bald Hills Road exit.
The Skyline was pursued along Bald Hills Road before it was lost sight of again on Alexandrina Road, Mount Barker.
The stolen Skyline was spotted a few more times as it continued east on the freeway towards Murray Bridge.
About 7.30am Murray Bridge patrols spotted the car travelling east on Adelaide Road. The car was pursued going onto Bridge Street and across the bridge before turning into Siesta Drive where it sideswiped the patrol car. The Skyline continued on before it lost control, left the road and hit an embankment, ending up on its side.
Two occupants of the car immediately ran off while two remained inside the car and were detained by police. The two males who fled were arrested after a short foot chase. All four occupants were treated for minor injuries at the scene by SA Ambulance.
Four men have been arrested and are currently being interviewed by police.
Checks on the Nissan Skyline revealed it had been stolen from a Windsor Gardens address.
The white Toyota Echo registration S173AUC was confirmed as being stolen from a Monarto address and is yet to be recovered. Anyone who sees the stolen Toyota or has information on its whereabouts is asked to contact police on 131 444.
