Four charged following alleged harness race fixing

Sporting Integrity Intelligence Unit (SIIU) and Shepparton detectives have charged four people today in relation to alleged harness race fixing in northern Victoria, Victoria Police say.

Investigators interviewed two men and two women in August last year following alleged race fixing that occurred in Cobram on 22 June 2015.

A 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman both from NSW and a 22-year-old woman and 22-year-old man both from Shepparton have been charged with engaging in conduct that corrupts a betting outcome and other related offences.

They have all been summoned to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on 20 February.

The investigation was initiated following information reported to Victoria Police by Harness Racing Victoria (HRV). Victoria Police maintains close relations with HRV and other key industry partners in order to monitor activity, detect irregularities, and collect intelligence.

Any person wishing to report sport corruption within the racing industry or other sports urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
