Four-hour stand-off resolved peacefully in Warrawong

A man has been charged after a four-hour stand-off with police near Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police say.

The incident began about 1.30pm today, after officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command went to a unit on Northcliffe Drive, Warrawong, to speak with a man about arrest warrants.

Police allege a 26-year-old man barricaded himself inside the unit and made a number of threats.

About 6pm the man was arrested without incident.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with threaten injury to person – prevent lawful detention and two outstanding arrest warrants.
