Four more charged after prison death

Homicide Squad have charged four more people following the death of a man at Port Phillip Prison in February this year.

A 26-year-old Hoppers Crossing man, a 26-year-old Footscray man, a 26-year-old Braybrook man and a 32-year-old Collingwood man have each been charged with murder.

All four are currently in custody over unrelated matters.

They will all appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court (online) on 21 August.

Earlier today police also charged a 34-year-old Braybrook man with murder.

The charges follow an incident on 26 February where a 48-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of men at the correctional facility.

He died in hospital on 29 February.
