Four teenagers from Queensland have been charged following two pursuits in an allegedly stolen car in the state's north yesterday.
Police will allege just before 6.30pm (Saturday 20 April 2019), officers from Coffs-Clarence Police District attempted to stop a Mazda CX5, believed to be stolen, travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway, Dirty Creek.
The Mazda allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns and was recommenced a short time later when the vehicle was spotted again on the Pacific Highway.
Road spikes were successfully deployed on the Pacific Highway, Bom Bom, near South Grafton, and the four occupants of the Mazda were arrested.
They were taken to Grafton Police station where a 16-year-old boy was charged with unlicensed driver – never held, two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye's Law), drive manner dangerous and possess stolen property outside NSW.
A second 16-year-old boy and two girls – aged 13 and 15 – were charged with carried in conveyance without consent.
All four were refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today (Sunday 21 April 2019).
