Four Seriously Injured in Mayfield Car Crash

Four people have been seriously injured after a single vehicle crash in the state's Hunter region.

About 11.15pm yesterday (Saturday 30 August 2025), emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle on fire after crashing into a telegraph pole at the intersection of Maitland Road and Ingall Street, Mayfield.

Bystanders were able to remove two of the male occupants – aged 24 and 19 – from the vehicle.

NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire and removed a 20-year-old man and another male who's identity is not yet confirmed from the vehicle.

All four were taken to John Hunter Hospital.

The 24 and 19-year-old men are in a serious but stable condition whilst the other two men are in a critical condition with burns.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
