Fox baiting program: Campaspe Shire

Fox baiting

Campaspe Shire Council will start a three week fox baiting program at Ern Miles Reserve in Kyabram from Thursday, 28 January.

General Manager Infrastructure Jason Deller said the program is now in its third year and is an important step towards the protection of wildlife from fox attacks in the area.

"The reserve's revegetation program has been very successful, now providing habitat for 123 varieties of birds, along with kangaroos and brushtail possums," Dr Deller said.

"The baiting program also helps protect the native animals at the nearby Kyabram Fauna Park."

"The reserve will remain safe and open to the public, however it is important that dogs are kept on leads, as per existing requirements."

Signs will be in place highlighting that the fox control program is underway again and letters have been sent to adjoining landowners.

The program will run for three weeks with fox baits removed on Thursday, 18 February.
