Classic fairytales will be turned upside down at Chinchilla Cultural Centre on Thursday 25 June when RAVA Productions brings the theatre production Fractured Fairy Tales to the Western Downs.
Alongside the imaginative production will be interactive workshops for high school students on Friday 26 June, where students will work directly with professional performers to explore storytelling, movement, and performance through drama and dance.
Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Peter Saxelby said Fractured Fairy Tales brings professional theatre to the region through an imaginative production, while also creating valuable learning opportunities for young people.
"Providing young people with exposure to professional theatre and hands‑on workshops opens doors, sparks creativity, and helps students see real pathways into the arts industry," Cr Saxelby said.
"Inclusive cultural experiences play a vital role in creating vibrant, connected communities where people feel inspired and welcome.
"By strengthening partnerships between touring arts organisations and local community groups, we're supporting sustainable arts delivery that benefits our region now and into the future."
Doors will open at the Chinchilla Cultural Centre's Wattle Room from 5pm on Thursday, with guests invited to enjoy refreshments ahead of the main performance, which will commence in the auditorium at 6pm.
Friday brings the opportunity for high school students to build confidence, creativity and connection with interactive drama and dance workshops, supporting Council's priority of actively engaging and empowering young people in our communities.
Cr Saxelby said the hands‑on workshops give students a chance to tap into their creativity and experience the joy of storytelling firsthand.
"The production Fractured Fairy Tales also brings that same sense of fun and imagination to the stage," he said.
"This is a fast‑paced, fun‑filled adventure where classic fairy tales have been turned upside down.
"Offering a playful and imaginative twist on much‑loved childhood stories, the heart of the show lies in its positive messages for young audiences.
"Every decision shapes the story, and the audience is taken on a journey that shows how small choices can lead to happily‑ever‑afters," he said.
Packed with laughter, lively characters, and heartfelt lessons, Fractured Fairy Tales is a magical theatre experience for the whole family.
Families, students, and theatre‑lovers are encouraged to book their seats and join the adventure before the clock strikes midnight.
Tickets are available for $5 per adult, with children attending free of charge, though registration is essential for all participants.
