Detectives from the Financial and Cyber Crime Group have charged a 42-year-old man with fraud and computer hacking related offences after executing a search warrant at a South Brisbane residence yesterday.
Investigations by the Cybercrime Unit indicate between 2022 and 2025, the man was allegedly involved in a number of online scams, including 'Hi Mum/Hi Dad' scams and fraud offences, totalling over $700,000.
The 42-year-old man has been charged with eight counts of fraud, two counts each of computer hacking/misuse and obtaining/using identification for indictable offence and one count of stealing.
He was refused bail and has been remanded in custody to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 15.
