Fraud, property charges over Kempsey break-ins, NSW

A man is due in court tomorrow charged with multiple fraud and property offences after being arrested in Kempsey for breaching bail, NSW Police say.

Officers from the Mid North Coast District have been investigating fraud, property and stolen vehicle offences in the Kempsey and Smithtown areas between Monday 12 November 2018 and Tuesday 13 November 2018.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 23-year-old man on Elbow Street, West Kempsey, about 5.30pm Friday (16 November 2018), and took him to Kempsey Police Station.

The man has now been charged with 13 offences including aggravated break, enter and steal, relating to a break-in on a home on Belmore Street at Smithtown on 12 November 2018.

He has also been charged with 10 counts of fraud/obtain property by deception, take/drive conveyance after a vehicle was stolen from James Carney Close, West Kempsey.

He has also been charged with drive while unlicensed, as well as breach of bail.

The man, who is from West Kempsey, was bail refused and appeared in Port Macquarie Local Court yesterday (Saturday 17 November 2018).

He was again refused bail to appear before Kempsey Local Court tomorrow (Monday 19 November 2018).
