Transport for NSW is offering a free caravan weighing day in Wentworth as part of a statewide program to support safer caravanning ahead of the Christmas period. The initiative includes both online and on-site workshops designed to help caravan owners understand safe towing practices, weight limits, loading requirements and the additional responsibilities involved when towing.
The event is supported by the Wentworth Shire Council.

During the session, your caravan and tow-vehicle combination will be weighed, with guidance provided on safe loading, correct weight distribution, stopping distances, and managing conditions such as wind, wet roads and uneven surfaces. The program aims to ensure caravan owners are operating safely, legally and with greater peace of mind.
Transport for NSW advises that non-compliance with towing and weight limits can affect insurance coverage, and that improper loading can increase the risk of crashes. The weighing days and online workshops offer practical advice, clear explanations of towing terminology such as ATM, GVM and GCM, and information that applies not only to caravans but also to trailers, boat trailers and horse floats.
