Free dementia information and support for families in Currambine

Do you or someone you know have early stage dementia or memory loss? Dementia Australia is holding a free program to provide information, support and assistance for dementia in Currambine.

There are estimated to be more than 40,000 people living with dementia in Western Australia, and more than 2,200 of this population live in the federal electorate of Moore.

Without a medical breakthrough, the number of people in Western Australia living with dementia is expected to increase to more than 56,000 people by 2028 and more than 107,000 people by 2058.

The aim of Dementia Australia's Living With Dementia program is to support Western Australia residents in the early stages of a dementia diagnosis, as well as provide information to the person involved in their care.

The program also provides an opportunity to meet and share experiences with others who are sharing similar circumstances, allowing time to socialise and share important links to local support services that support carer well-being.

The course will begin in February in Currambine.

Topics include:

• Symptoms and diagnosis
