Free kitchen caddy bags for Holdfast Bay households

North Brighton resident Paulina is not only our FOGO champion for September, she's also helping us share some good news.

All Holdfast Bay households are entitled to one free roll of compostable kitchen caddy bags (per financial year) with extra rolls available to purchase for $3 each.

Pick up a free roll from the Brighton Civic Centre or Glenelg Library, showing proof of residency.

All Woolworths, some Foodlands and Coles supermarkets offer compostable produce bags, which are also suitable for the kitchen caddies.

Once full, the bags can go straight into your household green-lid FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bin.

Items that are suitable for the FOGO bins include:

  • All fruit and vegetable scraps
  • Meat, bones, eggshells, and dairy
  • Coffee grounds, tea bags, loose-leaf tea
  • Nail clippings, pet hair and pet waste
  • Cold ash and charcoal
  • Shredded paper and sticky notes
  • Egg cartons
  • Pencil and other wood shavings

Once collected from your kerbside, households' food and garden organics are taken to Peat's composting facility and turned into nutrient-rich compost, soil, and mulch products.
