Hosted in local parks across the region, the Leave It dog training sessions offer a fun and practical way to build better habits together.
Led by professional trainers, each one-hour session focuses on essential cues like "recall" and "leave it", helping to keep dogs, people and wildlife safe.
Sunshine Coast Council Environment and Liveability Portfolio Councillor Maria Suarez said the sessions were a great opportunity for dog owners to strengthen their bond with their pets while learning practical skills that make a real difference.
"Responsible pet ownership is about more than just loving your dog, it's about making sure they're safe, well-behaved and respectful of others," Cr Suarez said.
"This includes our local wildlife, like koalas and turtles. These fun workshops focus on teaching dogs and their owners the skills they need to leave wildlife alone.
"It's a great chance to connect with your pooch and whether your dog is still learning the ropes or just needs a refresher, the sessions are open to all skill levels.
"Best of all, they're completely free but bookings are essential."
So, grab the leash, pack some treats and come along to a session in the park and help make our shared Sunshine Coast spaces safer and more enjoyable for everyone, including our wildlife.
