Free Technology Support And More

Looking for free technology support, and to connect with others in your community?

Come along to The Basin Community House on a Monday from 9.30am - 11am to get basic assistance or troubleshoot any issues you have with laptops, mobile phones and iPads/Tablets in a friendly and relaxed environment, and see what else is on offer to get involved in.

The Basin Community House creates a safe and welcoming space where people can connect, learn and feel supported. It plays a vital role in reducing social isolation, building confidence and providing pathways into education, volunteering and community participation.

Neighbourhood Houses welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and play a vital role in supporting Council's work to improve the health and wellbeing of the Knox community.

In addition to the Technology Support Program, The Basin Community House has over 70 hours of free and low-cost programs running each week, so there is something to suit everyone's interest. These include

  • Craft and Chat on Thursdays - 23rd April, 14th May, and 11th & 25th June, bringing people together through creativity and conversation
  • The Conversation and Friendship Group who meet monthly on a Friday, offering a space for meaningful connection,
  • Learn to make your own photobook using Canva to take your favourite photos and turn them into a keepsake on Wednesdays from 20th May to 24th June.

These programs are designed for people of all backgrounds, particularly those experiencing isolation or looking to reconnect with their community. Community members who attend consistently report improved wellbeing, confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

Knox City Council supports The Basin Community House through it running in a Council owned and maintained facility, and through funding provided through both the Community Development Fund, and Community Partnerships Fund grants streams.

Council is invested in supporting the five Neighbourhood Houses in Knox as they deliver social, economic and health benefits to the Knox community and these outcomes support us to deliver on our Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan. They also increase the communities access to local services through their 'No Wrong Door Policy', assisting people to find the information/service/support they need.
