Free Waste Vouchers Available Annually, Issued in July

Bega Valley Shire rate payers will receive a new set of free waste vouchers in July, with all vouchers now issued once a year instead of twice.

Council's Waste Strategy Coordinator, Tim Cook said the move to a single yearly release provides more flexibility and a longer window to plan trips to a waste and recycling centre.

"We know people have different household needs throughout the year, so receiving all vouchers at once with a 12-month expiry gives more control over when and how to use them," Mr Cook said.

"To get the most out of this service, we encourage customers to redeem their current vouchers before they expire at the end of July 2025."

Each voucher allows free disposal of:

  • General waste (up to 0.5 cubic metres)
  • Garden waste (up to 1 cubic metre)
  • One innerspring mattress.

Or pick up of:

  • 1 cubic metre of compost or mulch available at Eden, Merimbula, Wallagoot, and Bermagui waste and recycling centres (subject to availability).

Rate payers will automatically receive four new waste vouchers through the free Bega Valley Waste App.

If you don't have the app, vouchers can also be accessed via Council's website.

Those who previously requested printed vouchers will receive them in the mail in the coming weeks.

Tenants in rental properties can ask their landlord for a screenshot of the free vouchers.

Visit Council's website for more information on waste vouchers and the free Waste App.
