Greater Bendigo residents interested in learning how to grow their own food are invited to take part in a series of free Grow Food Bendigo workshops taking place this October.
City of Greater Bendigo Climate Change and Environment Manager Michelle Wyatt said Grow Food Bendigo is a partnership between Bendigo Foodshare and the City of Greater Bendigo funded through the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration.
"The Grow Food Bendigo workshops aim to equip the community with the skills and information they need to grow food in our specific climate, soils and spaces," Ms Wyatt said,
"Grow Food Bendigo also aims is to help members of the community to increase home food growing and reduce food miles, improve access to affordable, fresh, nutritious food, reduce food waste. It is also a great way to connect with other people in the community who share a passion for gardening and growing their own food."

"We're excited to partner with the City of Greater Bendigo to help residents build the knowledge, skills and confidence to grow food, reduce waste and become more connected to their local food system.
"You don't need a large backyard or years of experience to start growing food.
"Whether it's reducing food waste, saving seed, growing in pots or improving your soil, these workshops are about helping people take simple steps towards a more sustainable and food-secure household."
The workshops are part of the Home Energy Empowerment program funded by the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration and the City of Greater Bendigo.
