The Fremantle Leisure Centre's 50-metre pool is set to re-open on Friday 7 November at 5.30am, with regular programs and bookings resuming on Monday 10 November 2025.
The 50-year-old pool was closed at the end of June to allow for major repairs, and it has come in under budget and was completed a month earlier than expected.
Director of Creative Arts and Community Pete Stone said the project ran smoothly.
"I'm sure patrons will be as pleased as we are that the contractor, Paragon
Construction Solutions, with the support of City officers, were able to deliver this complex project in just four months, ahead of the anticipated completion in early December.
"The remediation work included retiling sections of the 50-metre pool and replacing the ageing filtration system with a new one that's more efficient," Mr Stone said.
The work was undertaken during the cooler months, when pool attendance is typically lower, to minimise the impact on the community.
The 25-metre pool, program pool and leisure playground pool remained open during the works.
"We really appreciate everyone's patience, especially the members, regular swimming groups and squads who used other facilities while these much-needed upgrades were undertaken," Mr Stone said.
To celebrate, the inflatable croc will be in the 50m pool for the next three days; Friday 3.30-5.30pm, Saturday 1-4pm and Sunday 12-3pm.
