Fun, Friendship And Adventure At Any Age

Local resident Bobby may be edging close to 90, but he's still finding new ways to enjoy life.

As a regular participant at Bayside Care and Support's Social Support program, Bobby looks forward to weekly activities at the centre, bus outings and the chance to spend time with friends.

Our Social Support program offers two types of excursions giving people the flexibility to choose a level of activity that suits them. 'Explorers' are for those comfortable with walking and stairs, offering adventurous trips and more active outings. 'Sightseers' are excursions designed for participants who need extra support. It's packed with fun and provides new and meaningful experiences, friendly company, and shared moments, but at a gentler pace.

Bobby was part of the Explorers group for many years, but as his balance changed, the team at the Black Rock Activity centre (BRAC) helped him transition to the Sightseers program. Though hesitant at first, he soon found that the outings offered the same meaningful experiences, shared moments and a welcoming group atmosphere.

"I get a lot of enjoyment from the program with the kind people at BRAC, and I am so thankful Council still looks after older residents. "I've still got a bit of life left and I'm going to fit it all in." Bobby's journey shows that it doesn't matter what group you choose, every outing brings friendship, laughter and memories to treasure.

Older gentlemen in his armchair, he is smiling.
Bobby continues to embrace new experiences and good company through Black Rock Activity Centre Sightseers program.
