Triathlons, music festivals, sailing competitions, community open days and more are among the events eligible for financial assistance through Council's new grant program.

Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Arts Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said the new Seed Events and Festivals Funding aimed to deliver meaningful, creative and high-quality events for the community and visitors.

"This is all about boosting high‑quality, creative and community‑focused events that celebrate Lake Macquarie's culture, build social and economic strength and attract visitors," she said.

Seed grants support local and emerging events, with funding ranging from $1,000 to $8,000.

High‑profile, visitor‑boosting events are eligible for $5000 to $15,000 in sponsorship funding.

"By investing in events that attract visitors and showcase Lake Macquarie, this funding helps drive tourism, support local businesses and strengthen our regional event economy," Ms Hemsley said.

"To further support event organisers, Council is delivering free professional development workshops to strengthen skills and build capacity."

The first workshop at Windale Hub, bilyabayi will be held on Thursday 26 March, focusing on how to host a successful event.

Four events will follow, focusing on a range of topics including how to apply for grants and unlock funding opportunities and essential planning considerations for events that use public spaces.

Applications are open until on Friday 24 April 2026.
