The McGowan Government has boosted the Active Regional Communities (ARC) grants program by 40 per cent to $180,000, providing increased support to country athletes and clubs from regional Western Australia.
ARC grants provide financial assistance to help people living in regional WA participate in sport and active recreation activities.
The program works to increase community participation in sport, build the capacity of local people involved in running sport and recreation in their communities, and help localities host regional competitions.
ARC grants can be used to support and stage initiatives such as:
- Hosting events;
- Conducting programs;
- Coaching clinics;
- Volunteer training;
- Coaching accreditation courses, and
- Referee or umpire accreditation courses.

As stated by Acting Sport and Recreation Minister Francis Logan:
"We have increased funding for the latest round of ARC to provide more support to country athletes and regional clubs to grow their sport in their communities.
"Community sport is one of the foundations of regional WA, and the more support we can provide to grassroots athletes and clubs, the better off our country towns will be.
"People who live in regional WA know the importance of sport and recreation in helping build communities, lifelong friendships and better health outcomes - and I encourage all localities around the State to get their applications in soon."
