Funding to boost economic projects

Three Cairns organisations will share in more than $28,000 for projects that aim to boost the city's economy.

Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Cairns Aviation Skills Centre and Dive Queensland each received funding through the Cairns Regional Council Industry and Economic Diversification Fund (IEDF), which supports local organisations with the development and delivery of projects that will have industry and economic benefits for the region.

Cairns Chamber of Commerce, through its sub-committee Tradelinked, will receive $9,800 (ex GST) to undertake research and prepare a paper in support the case for direct flights between Cairns and Lae, Papua New Guinea.

Cairns Aviation Skills Centre Limited to undertake strategic planning to the value of $9,000 (ex GST).

Dive Queensland received a $9,900 (ex GST) grant to support the delivery of a seminar a Dive Equipment and Marketing Association event in November, 2019 and a subsequent journalists' familiarisation tour to Cairns.
