Now in its seventh year, the Collectors' Edition, is the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre's annual fundraising exhibition in aid of raising funds to acquire new works into the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre's Collection. Image of installed exhibition at Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

This year 134 artists, from the Blue Mountains and across Australia, have donated original artworks that will be for sale through a silent auction.

Visitors to the Gallery can register to be a bidder and start their very own art collection.

Works from prominent artists such as Sean Cordeiro and Claire Healy, Euan Macleod and Locust Jones are available for amateur art collectors to snap up. It costs just $5 to register to bid and registered bidders have unlimited entry for the duration of the Collectors' Edition.

This year funds will specifically go to purchasing a series of drawings from Katoomba-based artist Wendy Tsai featuring The Gully.

Tsai said, "It is a great privilege to have my work on The Gully selected for the Blue Mountains City Gallery Collection, and to have so many fantastic mostly local artists support the purchase of the work through their artworks for auction."

"It is a highlight in an artist's career for the reminder that what you create has meaning for a wider audience," she said.

Manager, Arts and Cultural Services, Blue Mountains City Council, Paul Brinkman wanted to thank all of the artists who have donated works to this year's exhibition.

"All of the artists that have so generously contributed to this fundraising exhibition recognise how important it is to support the growth of a public art collection that future generations can enjoy. The challenges of COVID make their donations even more special."

"The standard of this year's Collector's Edition exhibition is absolutely fantastic and provides a rare opportunity for visitors to purchase original artworks from some of the Blue Mountains most accomplished artists," he said.

Tickets for the closing auction, to be held on Friday 26 March 6 - 8pm, are now available via Eventbrite. The closing night auction is always a fun and lively night and the final bids stand once the bell rings at 7pm. The top 5 works will go to an exciting live auction hosted by auctioneer Michael Brischetto.
