- The Crisafulli Government's plans for a replacement Queensland Fire and Rescue Station in Hervey Bay are progressing.
- The replacement station, funded in the 2026-2027 State Budget, will include seven bay accommodation for fire trucks and permanent and auxiliary firefighters, as well as a vehicle shed for further storage.
- Once built the station is expected to future-proof emergency and disaster response capability in the community.
The Crisafulli Government has secured funding to deliver a brand-new replacement Queensland Fire and Rescue Station for Hervey Bay.
A decade of Labor decline saw emergency infrastructure fall behind the needs of growing regional communities, leaving frontline services under-supported.
As part of the 2026–27 State Budget, the Crisafulli Government is investing $10.2 million to progress replacement of permanent and auxiliary fire and rescue stations across Queensland, including at Hervey Bay.
Land has been secured following an extensive search for a suitable site to replace the existing Torquay Fire and Rescue Station.
The new site is strategically positioned to support the expanding Hervey Bay region and will be home to a modern, purpose-built facility designed to meet the needs of a growing regional community.
This investment is another example of the Crisafulli Government restoring safety for Queenslanders through modern emergency infrastructure that supports frontline crews and keeps regional communities safe into the future, just like we promised.
Minister for Fire, Disaster Recovery and Volunteers Ann Leahy said the upgrade reflects the Crisafulli Government's commitment to strengthening emergency services and supporting frontline firefighters.
"The Fraser Coast community is no stranger to disasters and emergencies, as we've seen with severe flooding in recent months," Minister Leahy said.
"After years of underinvestment by the former Labor Government, we're restoring safety for Queenslanders by ensuring their communities have access to modern, reliable emergency infrastructure."
"This new station will provide cutting-edge capabilities for the dedicated firefighters at Torquay, supporting their critical work and ensuring they can continue delivering the highest level of emergency response now and into the future."
Member for Hervey Bay David Lee said the new station was a major step forward for the local community.
"We committed to delivering improved emergency infrastructure for Hervey Bay, and it's great to see plans progressing for a modern station that will support our growing community," Mr Lee said.
"This new facility will give our firefighters the space and resources they need to respond quickly and effectively, helping keep Hervey Bay residents safe now and into the future."
Member for Maryborough John Barounis said the new station was strengthening emergency response across the broader Fraser Coast.
"This investment will benefit communities right across the Fraser Coast by improving response times and supporting our hardworking firefighters," Mr Barounis said.
"As our region continues to grow, projects like this are essential to ensure our emergency services are well equipped to protect local families and businesses."
Queensland Fire and Rescue Acting Assistant Commissioner David Tucker said the replacement station would be optimally positioned for firefighters to respond to incidents in areas of new growth.
"The replacement Hervey Bay station will be strategically positioned to optimise our operational response so our firefighters can continue to meet the needs of the expanding Hervey Bay community," Mr Tucker said.
"Our crews go above and beyond every day responding to a wide range of disasters and emergencies, and I know they will greatly benefit from the new facility."
The project is currently in planning with concept design development work in progress.
