Further arrest, cold case homicide investigation

A 33-year-old man has today been charged with murder following the death of Jay Brogden in Airlie Beach in 2007

This morning and as part of the investigation by members of the Homicide Group and Whitsunday CIB, the man was arrested for his alleged role in the murder.

The 33-year-old man was originally extradited from Sydney to Brisbane on March 19 relating to an incident in Airlie Beach in 2009.

This also follows the arrest of a 32-year-old man in Coffs Harbour on March 26. The man was arrested by New South Wales Police on unrelated matters. The man remains in custody. Detectives will apply for his extradition to Queensland at a later time.

Investigations remain ongoing. The man is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this afternoon.
