Detectives have released further CCTV and are renewing an appeal for information, as investigations continue into the kidnapping of a man from Sydney’s north last year.
About 12.40pm on Saturday 24 October 2020, officers from Ryde Police Area Command attended a unit block on Morrison Road at Ryde, following reports a man had been violently abducted from the underground carpark.
A crime scene was established and following initial inquiries, the matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, who took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Nicotiana.
During the investigation, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command responded to reports an injured man had been found near the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive and Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills, on Tuesday 27 October 2020.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended before the man was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
The man was identified as the then 20-year-old, who was abducted three days prior.
Last month, Strike Force Nicotiana detectives released CCTV vision of a 2016 white HiAce van that entered the underground carpark just prior to the man being violently abducted.
At the time the vision of the HiAce was captured, stolen number plates were fixed to the van and the front windscreen had distinctive markings.
Following further investigations, police have now released CCTV vision of two further vehicles of interest – a white Toyota Corolla and a dark-coloured Toyota Hilux – seen in the area after the alleged abduction on Saturday 24 October 2020.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have information about the occupants or movements of the vehicles to come forward immediately.
Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Nicotiana detectives is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
