Detectives from the Mount Isa Criminal Investigation Branch have today charged a man and a woman as a result of an ongoing investigation into a Charters Towers aviation company, Queensland Police say.
The 32-year-old man and 34-year-old woman have both been charged with one count of fraud – dishonestly gain a benefit whilst carrying on a business.
They are due to appear before the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on August 30.
The charges relate to alleged unlawful charter aviation services conducted by a Charters Towers-based business between 2012 and 2016.
Earlier this year, police also charged the 32-year-old man with 342 offences following a protracted multi-agency investigation into the alleged tampering of aircraft at the Mount Isa Airport.
In May 2017, a 24-year-old Mount Isa man was charged with offences in relation to the falsification of documents and flying an aircraft in contravention of safety requirements.
In July 2017, a 64-year-old Charters Towers man was charged with an offence relating to alleged unlawful charter aviation services.
Police are still appealing to anyone who may have further information relating to the grievous bodily harm of an aircraft engineer in Charters Towers in July 2014.
Police are also appealing to anyone who may have been present at the Doongmabulla Airstrip during the nose wheel collapse of an aircraft on 17 August 2014.
