Further charges following Coogee public order incident, NSW

Police have charged a fourth person following a public order incident in Coogee last month, NSW Police say.

About 12am (25 April 2017), police attended Goldstein Reserve, Coogee Beach after reports were received regarding the behaviour of a large group of young people.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command attended and while attempting to disperse the crowd, a police officer was allegedly struck in the head by a bottle.

With the assistance of police from neighbouring commands, the crowd was eventually moved on.

Three males aged 14, 16 and 21 were arrested and charged last month, and police have now charged a 14-year-old youth at Parramatta Police Station with assault police occasioning actual bodily harm and resist arrest.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Children’s Court today.
