Further Charges Laid Under Strike Force Yarloop

A man has faced court charged with firearms and property theft offences in the state's north west slopes region.

In July 2025, detectives attached to Oxley Police District and the Rural Crime Prevention Team commenced investigations under Strike Force Yarloop to investigate property and rural thefts in the Gunnedah and surrounding areas.

Following ongoing investigations, police attended a home on Jaeger Ave, Gunnedah about 4pm Wednesday 18 February 2026, where they arrested a 27-year-old man.

He was taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Six counts of attempt dispose property-theft=serious indictable less than or equal to $5000,
  • Three counts of use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part, and
  • Break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000.

He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 5 yesterday (Thursday 19 February 2026) where he was formally refused bail to face Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

The charges follow three previous arrests by police under Strike Force Yarloop - one earlier this month in Tambar Springs, and two in Gunnedah in December 2025 - resulting in prohibited drug supply and other charges being laid.

Strike Force Yarloop investigations remain ongoing.
