The Tasmanian Government is investing $30 million to deliver Stage 2 of the Kingston Community Health Centre to build a better Tasmanian health system - now and for the future.
Releasing artist's impressions of Stage 2 today, Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said the facilities will meet the healthcare needs of the growing Kingborough and Huon Valley communities and boost access to services in the region.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're delivering on the things that matter, like health," Minister Petrusma said.
"The Stage 2 expansion of the Kingston Community Health Centre will extend the existing facility, creating modern, purpose-built spaces to increase the capacity and to broaden the range of healthcare services delivered from the facility.
"Hobart-based architects Terroir have been appointed as lead architect for the project, and early artist's impressions give us a fantastic insight into how the future Health Centre could look.
"These early impressions have been developed as part of the initial concept planning and as the design progresses it will have a focus on patient safety, accessibility and continuity of care.
"The expansion of the Kingston Community Health Centre will boost local health outcomes by improving access to a wide range of high-quality community-based health care services.
"The concept design will be developed in consultation with key stakeholders and clinicians and informed by the model of care and the functional design brief, which are currently being developed.
"Once the concept design is complete, the Department of Health will consult with Health Centre users and the community more broadly, including on issues such as construction impacts and service continuity.
"We will continue to invest in health infrastructure, to ensure Tasmanians get the right care, at the right place, at the right time."
