Future Of Recreation And Aquatics In Bayside

We've drafted our new 10-year Recreation Strategy - Active Bayside 2026 - 2036, and we'd like your feedback to let us know, have we got it right.

The new 10-year strategy provides a framework to enhance community wellbeing in Bayside through varied, equitable and inclusive recreation opportunities. The strategy focuses on improved infrastructure for all users, education and partnerships to help meet community needs, and reducing participation barriers to help get more people more active.

We're seeking to understand community sentiment about the drafted recreation priorities, particularly recreation opportunities for youth, and ideas to help us improve the strategy to encourage a healthy and connected community.

As part of the consultation, we're also seeking feedback to inform an Aquatics Strategy, and business case. We're looking to the future to identify what public pool facilities, programs, and services we need in Bayside, where they should be located, and how to fund them.

Aquatic centres are more than just places to swim. They support health, wellbeing, social connection and inclusion for people of all ages and abilities.

Whether you're a regular swimmer, an occasional visitor, or have never used our pools, your views are important.

Right now, Bayside has two aquatic facilities: Sandringham Family Leisure Centre (reopening on 10 November) and the historic seawater Brighton Baths. We've also developed plans for a warm water pool, but rising costs have prompted this broader review of all aquatic facilities.

Don't miss your chance to help shape Bayside's recreational future. Visit our Have Your Say page to find out more, read the draft Recreation Strategy, and provide your feedback and help to enhance Bayside's recreation assets, programs, and infrastructure.

Consultation closes 25 November 2025.
