Gamba Action Ignites Saturday: Free Event & Sausage Sizzle

NT Government

Got Gamba? An Information Day is being held in Batchelor this Saturday 1 November 2025, to empower landholders to tackle gamba grass in the Coomalie region.

The free community event has been organised by the Department of Lands Planning and Environment Weed Management Branch as part its Gamba Litchfield Neighbours Project to boost the capacity of landholders surrounding Litchfield National Park to reduce the impacts of gamba grass.

Activities kick off at 8am with a free BBQ breakfast, followed by information sessions, spraying demonstrations, and sausage sizzle held throughout the morning.

The information sessions will cover gamba grass management requirements, how to identify gamba grass, best practice control methods including a spraying demonstration, and what resources are available to help control gamba grass.

Landholders surrounding Litchfield National Park will be able to pick up their free herbicide on the day. This is a limited early release only, ahead of the official Gamba Action Program free herbicide launch on Friday 28 November 2025 at Fred's Pass, when the general public will be able to get their free herbicide.
