Gender Equality Talk by Sex Discrimination Chief

22 September 2025

Australia's Sex Discrimination Commissioner Dr Anna Cody will be addressing the National Press Club on Wednesday September 24 on the future of gender equality in Australia.

'This is a critical moment for gender equality in Australia,' says Dr Cody. 'Now is the time to challenge outdated systems, rethink how we value each other, and build a future where everyone is safe, respected and included.'

In her address, Dr Cody will challenge the systems and structures that continue to drive inequality and call for leadership that reflects the diversity of our communities. Her address will highlight the need to rethink outdated ideas of merit, recognise unpaid care work, and involve men in driving cultural change — from sharing care responsibilities to calling out harmful behaviours.

The address will take place at the National Press Club in Canberra at 12pm on Wednesday, September 24.
