Geological survey goes global to deliver regional results

The Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) has been at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention this week, promoting Victoria's minerals potential to north American investors.

Interest in Victorian minerals, especially gold, has surged at the convention on the back of new geoscience data that is being presented.

GSV estimates there may be more than 73 million ounces of undiscovered gold across the state.

GSV's ongoing geological research and its attendance at industry events helps international explorers gain the confidence to invest Victoria's minerals development, with tangible outcomes for many regional communities.

Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that last financial year mining employment rose 41 per cent, supporting an average of 16,000 jobs across the state.
