Georges River Council Supports Safer Internet Day

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is proud to support Safer Internet Day through the 'No Phishing in Georges River' campaign.

Council received grant funding from the Department of Home Affairs. The grant has allowed Council to run the campaign to help educate vulnerable community members.

'No Phishing in Georges River' is a project focusing on increasing cyber-safe awareness and practices in the community. Workshops will be available to support small business owners, seniors and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse members of the community. These are aimed at preventing scams and fraud:

  • 2 March 2026 – Small Business Workshop, facilitated by IDCare.

  • 12 March 2026 – Community Workshop at Hurstville Library, also facilitated by IDCare.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Council is committed to protecting vulnerable members of our community. Through initiatives like our 'No Phishing in Georges River' campaign, we are promoting safer online practices.

"Internet scams and fraud often target these groups. We are playing our part by educating the community and empowering them to use the internet safely and confidently."
