Georges River Residents Flock to Chemical CleanOut

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is celebrating the success of its recent Household Chemical CleanOut. It was held on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October 2025 at the Mortdale Depot. This event is sponsored by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Over the two-day event, 1,902 vehicles visited the depot to safely dispose of hazardous household chemicals.

The Household Chemical CleanOut events cater for the collection of hazardous liquids and items such as:

  • Paints up to 100 litres in 20 litre containers.

  • Motor oils.

  • Fuels.

  • Coolants.

  • Batteries.

  • Vapes and vape cartridges.

  • Fluorescent tubes and light globes.

The event was free to attend. It saw the collection of over 64 tonnes of material.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "I want to thank our Georges River community for their incredible support of this event.

"The turnout was outstanding, and it's clear our residents care deeply about protecting our environment and doing the right thing."

The next Household Chemical CleanOut will be held in the first half of 2026. Once the date is finalised, will be published on Council's website.

Disposing of household chemicals responsibly helps keep our waterways clean. It also helps to protect the environment and supports sustainable waste management.
