Get behind Tasmania's thoroughbred stars

Elise Archer,Minister for Racing

Tasmanians can help get two of the State's top thoroughbreds into one of the world's richest races by voting for Mystic Journey and Hellova Street to make the field for the $5 million All Star Mile race at Flemington in March.

The All-Star Mile is the only race in Australia where the horses are selected by popular vote, and of the 130 nominations, there are two Tasmanian thoroughbred horses – Hellova Street and Mystic Journey – that are a chance of making the final field.

8 year-old gelding Hellova Street has been named the Tasmanian Horse of the Year for the past two years, and star filly Mystic Journey has won six of her nine starts, including two feature races in the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

As Tasmanian Minister for Racing I'm joining TasRacing in encouraging Tasmanians attending Sunday's Hobart Cup to vote for our Tasmanian stars.

These horses need our help to qualify, and I encourage every Tasmanian to get behind them and vote at www.allstarmile.com.au before the 18th of February.
