Get in early to organise your Schedule 13 burning permit

Permit-to-Burn

Applications are now open to landowners who require a Schedule 13 permit to burn fine fuel on their properties.

A Schedule 13 permit may be issued to burn fuel such as grass, stubble, and weeds but only where there is an essential need to burn during the Fire Danger Period.

Landowners may apply for a Schedule 13 permit from today but permits will not be issued and burning cannot begin until Tuesday 10 march.

The Schedule 13 permit comes with a number of conditions that landowners must be aware of when applying for the permit.

The permit allows for a total of three fire units, there must be 3600 litres of water and four adults in attendance, there is a 200 hectare maximum burn area and land must have a bare earth break not less than three metres wide and cleared of all flammable materials, then mechanically turned.

The permits also include time restrictions where burning off must not commence before 1pm on each day of the burning operation.
