Get some shelf control at book buying session

Library members and other residents are being offered a special opportunity to help select books and other future reading materials for the Armidale and Guyra libraries.

A Book Buying & Biscuits afternoon will be held at the Armidale library on Wednesday 28 August, for members and other interested people who would like to have input to the materials that would be available to borrow or use at the library.

The session is aligned with a 21st Century Libraries Strategy currently being developed to help make the Guyra and Armidale libraries more vibrant hubs where people can learn, join in group activities or just meet friends.

The library team is developing the strategy in consultation with users and the wider community to encourage more Armidale region residents to make regular use of the libraries and their resources.

"This month's informal get together is a chance for people to browse and select future reading material for our two libraries," the Chair of Council's Wellbeing Advisory Committee, Councillor Debra O'Brien, said.

"Participants will not only be able to participate in helping the librarians select items they think our community might enjoy, they will have the added bonus of being able to reserve items once they are ready for borrowing."
