Girl injured during shots fired in Guildford

An investigation is underway after a girl was shot in the leg during a public place shooting in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Police and emergency services were called to Constance Street, Guildford, about 9.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 April 2018), following reports a number of shots had been fired into an open garage of a home, where a group of people were sitting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 13-year-old girl, who had been shot in the thigh. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the Children’s Hospital Westmead, in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be examined by forensic specialists.

Inquiries are continuing; however, police believe the shooting is not random.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
