The 2019 Hawkesbury Mayoral Christmas Appeal is underway and the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert is asking people to help the Salvos give the gift of hope this Christmas.
"This is the second year that the Salvation Army has been the nominated charity for the Mayoral Christmas Appeal," the Mayor said.
"In 2018 it made a big difference to the Salvos assisting many local people at Christmas and I hope we can do it all again this year.
"Hawkesbury residents have provided hundreds of gifts over the years to the Mayoral Christmas Appeal to help those who struggle at this time of year,"
"My sincere thanks to everyone that can donate at this time." he said
The Mayor officially launched the Appeal at the free community event Light Up Windsor on Saturday, 23 November 2019.
Contributions are welcomed for both children and adults of all ages, however, there is a special request for gifts for the 13-18 age group for boys and adult males as traditionally there are less gifts for these two groups.
All presents must be unwrapped. There are four collection points for the Mayoral Christmas Appeal:
- Council's Administration Building, 366 George Street Windsor
- The Salvation Army Office, 290 George Street, Windsor
- Hawkesbury Central Library, Deerubbin Centre (Ground Floor), 300 George St, Windsor
- Richmond Branch Library, 29 West Market Street, Richmond.
Presents should be delivered to the collection points by Thursday, 19 December 2019 to allow time for them to be wrapped and distributed prior to Christmas.
