Carinity school students are supporting fundraising champion Claude Harvey and child protection organisation Bravehearts.
Claude, known as "The Mower Man", this week visited Carinity Education Gladstone, one of the first stops on his 37-day fundraising journey from Sunshine Coast to Townsville.
Carinity Education Gladstone students presented a $300 donation to Claude on behalf of the school.
Claude enjoyed chatting with Carinity Education Gladstone students and staff over lunch prepared by students in their new commercial kitchen.
Over the past 15 years the 76-year-old has raised $1.6 million for Bravehearts, which works to prevent child sexual assault.
"Bravehearts' education programs in schools I think is the best education program in this world to teach children how to be safe," Claude says.
The Gold Coast retiree raises money pushing his lawnmower around Australia.
Carinity Education Gladstone Principal Jane Greenland says Carinity is proud to support Bravehearts, given both organisations support at-risk youth around Queensland.
"Our school community is happy and proud to support Bravehearts. Like Carinity, Bravehearts strives to provide at-risk youth with a brighter future," Jane says.
"Our school helps disadvantaged young people who have not succeeded at other schools to transition to become valuable contributors to their community."
Claude visited Carinity Education Glendyne when fundraising in Hervey Bay last October, with the school community also donating money to support Bravehearts.
On his current fundraising journey Claude will visit towns such as Calliope, Biloela, Emerald, Longreach, Mt Isa, Winton, Cloncurry, Charters Towers and Townsville.
