Glen Innes escapee charged in Armidale

A man has been charged after allegedly escaping from the Glen Innes Correctional Centre last month, NSW Police say.

Police had been searching for the 36-year-old man since he escaped on Friday 27 January 2017.

About 3am today, the man was arrested without incident at a home in Armidale.

The man was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with escape lawful custody.

He was refused bail and will appear in Armidale Local Court today.
