The Crisafulli Government is delivering opportunities for Gold Coast small and medium businesses to play a key role in helping deliver the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games.

The Crisafulli Government, the Organising Committee for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Brisbane 2032), and the City of Gold Coast met with local businesses to discuss how they can be involved in procurement for the Games.

The event provided businesses with an overview of the Games Procurement Program and the range of opportunities that will be available as planning for 2032 accelerates.

The Procurement Program outlines how it will source everything needed to deliver the Games, such as temporary infrastructure; transport; fencing and barriers; catering and housekeeping; uniforms; look and signage; merchandise and more.

Through the Crisafulli Government's 2032 Delivery Plan, the Gold Coast has been identified to host events across a mix of new and existing venues, including a new arena and an upgraded hockey centre to be funded and delivered by the City of Gold Coast, alongside its existing Convention Centre.

After 1200 days of Games chaos under the former Labor Government, the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering a lasting legacy and Games that benefits all of Queensland.

Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said the Games would produce a unique opportunity for Gold Coast businesses.

"We want this to be a Games for Queenslanders and by Queenslanders," Minister Mander said.

"It's incredibly important that local businesses share in the benefits of hosting the Games, by helping deliver the Games.

"They have a chance to be part of history, and to help us build a legacy that continues to benefit Queenslanders long after 2032."

Minister for Customer Services and Open Data and Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin welcomed the opportunity to meet with Gold Coast small and medium businesses.

"The Gold Coast business community contains exceptional innovators and manufacturers capable of playing an important role in delivering the Games," Minister Minnikin said.

"In 2032, the Gold Coast region will be on display to the world. It won't just be the beautiful beaches and vibrant city being showcased, it will also be the capacity, innovation and skill of local businesses - large, medium and small.

"The benefits now and well into the future can be enormous, so I strongly encourage all businesses to take advantage of this opportunity and help deliver a wonderful Games for Queensland."

Member for Southport Rob Molhoek said local small and family businesses should act now if they were interested in taking part in Olympic and Paralympic procurement.

"I strongly encourage all businesses to take advantage of this opportunity and help deliver a wonderful Games for Queensland," Mr Molhoek said.

"The Gold Coast business community has shown time and again that we can deliver world class events and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032 will be yet another opportunity to showcase what we have to offer."
