Police are joining forces with the firies, ambos, the Transport and Main Roads department as well as the Gold Coast Council as part of a continuing motorcycle safety campaign, Queensland Police say.
This Sunday in the hinterland, the fifth instalment of Operation North Upright will be conducted to raise awareness of the potential risks for motorcyclists using the hinterland roads within the South Eastern Region.
Motorcyclists enjoying the hinterland area are invited to stop for a chat about road safety with experienced motorcycle officers from the Road Policing Command and other emergency services.
Gold Coast District Senior Sergeant Andrew Disley said that community engagement is an important part of the operation.
"We endeavor to inform riders about safe riding techniques through displays, demonstrations, and discussions," Senior Sergeant Disley said.
"This event is specifically focusing on engaging with and education of the motorcycle enthusiast community.
"The intent is to convey the road safety message, survey riders to gain a better understanding of experience and riding habits and generally generate a positive message in the community around road safety."
